Chelsea Ladies secured their first-ever major trophy after beating Notts County 1-0 at Wembley.

The Women’s FA Cup final was played in front of a record 30,710 crowd with World Cup stars Eni Aluko, Katie Chapman, Claire Rafferty and Laura Bassett, amongst others, on show.

The Blues were the far better side in the first-half, with the speedy Aluko going close after being set up by Gemma Davison.

Lady Magpies’ ‘keeper Carly Telford then thwarted the rampant Aluko. Before Davison then fired wide after more good work from Aluko.

Eventually, the goal came, with Aluko involved once again, this time setting up South Korean striker Ji So-Yun, who fired home.

After the break, Notts County improved, with Desiree Scott seeing her effort deflected wide.

Leanne Crichton had the best chance for the Lady Magpies, only to see her goalbound header cleared off the line.

Aluko and Gilly Flaherty had chances to increased the Blues’ lead.

However, ultimately Gemma Hayes’ side hung on to make history for the club.
