“Come on you Blues”

As you may be aware, Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman has been in the news a fair bit recently after the Mexican drug lord was recaptured by security forces following his audacious jail break six months ago.

Sean Penn’s bezzie mate is now safely back under lock and key (for the moment, anyway) but the kingpin continues to make headlines the world over – one of the more curious examples coming from Spanish daily newspaper Sport.

Indeed, Sport claim that El Chapo, who has an estimated personal fortune of €1billion, was “seriously looking into purchasing” Chelsea from Roman Abramovich once upon a time.

The paper also muse that the cartel leader has enough money to purchase almost any European football club he chooses, bar Real Madrid (€3.3bn), Barcelona (€3.2bn), Manchester United (€2.8bn), Bayern (€1.8bn) and Arsenal (€1.3bn), who are all estimated to be too rich for his blood.

Something tells us the ‘fit and proper persons’ test might prove to be a bit of a stumbling block.
