Despite not having it all their own way at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, Chelsea once again secured a victory against Stoke to extend their winning streak in the Premier League to 13 games, equalling Arsenal’s record for a single season set back in 2001/02.

Gary Cahill scored the opener in the first-half, heading home on 34 minutes.

However, the game really came alive in the second-half, with Bruno Martins Indi’s close-range effort soon after the re-start pulling the Potters level.

Brazilian winger Willian put the Blues ahead once again on 56 minutes.

Stoke weren’t giving up yet, though, and soon after, veteran beanpole Peter Crouch once again levelled the scores.

Despite being unaccustomed to conceding at home, Chelsea stayed focused and hit back almost immediately, with Willian netting his second of the game.

Then, on 85 minutes, Diego Costa sealed the deal for Antonio Conte’s men.

The win, against an impressive Stoke side, sees Chelsea finish 2016 six points clear of Liverpool at the top of the table.

Indeed, one more win will see the west Londoners equal Arsenal’s all-time Premier League record of 14 wins in a row, which was achieved across two seasons. What a turnaround from that 3-0 mauling the Blues suffered at the Emirates back in September!

As for Mark Hughes’ Stoke side, they can take pride in a battling display, despite the lack of points.
