Chelsea moved 10 points clear at the top of the Premier League table on Monday night, courtesy of a deserved 2-1 win away to West Ham.
The Blues took the lead on 25 minutes via a superb counter-attack. The excellent N’Golo Kanté intercepted a pass from Robert Snodgrass in the Chelsea half before Hazard drove at the Hammers’ backline.
The Belgian then swapped passes with Pedro before firing past Darren Randolph.
Not surprisingly, that goal didn’t go down to well with the home fans, with one charming chap squaring up to Hazard before being dragged away by a couple of stewards.
Soon after the re-start, the visitors were 2-0 up, with Diego Costa netted from close-ranger after a Hazard corner.
That goal came just minutes after a sublime bit of improvisation from Hazard, who laid the ball off to Kanté with his back.
Costa’s goal put the Spaniard on 49 in the Premier League, with his opposite number Andy Carroll also looking for his 50th in the competition. However, neither player who hit that milestone on the night.
West Ham did their best to get back into the game, with Sofiane Feghouli forcing a great save from Thibaut Courtois.
However, the Hammers did eventually get one back, with Manuel Lanzini slotting home from an Andre Ayew pass.
Ultimately, Lanzini’s goal would prove only to be a consolation effort, with Chelsea the deserved winners at the London Stadium.
Antonio Conté’s side go 10 points clear of Spurs at the top of the table, with the league title surely all but wrapped up.
Slaven Bilic’s Hammers, on the other hand, stay 11th.
