Chelsea and Arsenal played out a dull 0-0 draw in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening, with the game producing little of note in the way of highlights.

Perhaps the only vaguely memorable aspect of the night was that Arsene Wenger SAT SOMEWHERE ELSE for the entirety of the evening as the Arsenal manager chose to take in the vantages of the press box to circumvent his touchline ban.

That was about it really; Arsenal’s pick ‘n’ mix team squeezed Chelsea fairly well, denying them space to operate, and the home side also saw what few chances they did carve out go to waste.

As for the Gunners, there was this moment of divine inspiration from the never-knowingly-effective Alex Iwobi to enjoy…

Iwobi increasingly looks like he belongs to that particular sub-sect of Arsenal youth prospects who make it into the first team and then fail to improve in any discernible way.

Roll on the second leg. It simply can’t be any worse than the appetiser.
