Chelsea players celebrate with the FA Cup trophy after the game

I was lucky enough to be at Wembley yesterday, to see Chelsea win the double – congrats to them. As many fans anticipated a rout, you have to say Pompey did well to limit the champions to a one-goal victory, on a day when both goalkeepers shone. The dry, patchy pitch, which John Terry said “ruined” the match, didn’t help either team in their bid to play fluid football.

Pompey had their chances to pull off a mighty shock, including Kevin-Prince Boateng’s penalty at 0-0, saved by the excellent Petr Cech, but Chelsea had by far the better chances – they hit the woodwork five times (including an absolute sitter botched by Salomon Kalou) in the first half! – and thoroughly deserved to win. The final score might have been 5-1 to Chelsea, but Didier Drogba’s precise free-kick was enough to give Chelsea their first double.

Well done also to both sets of fans for creating a superb atmosphere with no real hint of trouble.

how on earth did that finish 1-0?

I think that it was karma for Kevin Prince Boateng (missing his penalty), after his horrendous tackle on Ballack. I believe there was some intent in that tackle, because a matter of seconds before that tackle, Ballack and Boateng had a little scuffle. I don’t think that he meant to injure Ballack but wanted to send a strong message or in the back of his mind get revenge. Because he was playing on the left and made a full blooded sprint to the middle just to get a tackle in on Ballack was a bit suspicious. Again, I play football and sometimes that’s how you might react after going head to head with a guy. Again didn’t mean to hurt Ballack (hopefully) but there was some intent, even if he doesn’t admit it, deep down there was some malice. That was a VERY bad challenge. Anyways CHAMPIONS AGAIN!!!!!

Saw that scuffle, and what amazes me was the fact that Ballack, threw a punch that did not connect. The TV commentators didn’t mention it. so I rewound my sky + and watched it again, and yes he deffo threw a red card punch. so why was he allowed to stay on, or am i blind
