I thought Lamps was England’s worst player against the mighty Andorra. Owen Hargreaves showed him up once again. The Second-Best Player in the World may get the job done for Chelski – I don’t doubt that – but he’s simply not performing for the national team.

I think Steve McClaren should drop him against Macedonia, push Stevie Gerrard inside and start with Aaron Lennon on the right. Hargreaves and Gerrard would make-up the hardest-working central midfield pairing in international football.

Who’s with me?

I’d prefer Gerrard on the right as I think it’s his best position but with the only other central options being Jenas (Nooooo!!!) or Carrick and the quality of the right sided midfielders (Lennon and Wright-Philips) it seems that it’s the only option to push Gerrard into central midfield. I just hope Joe Cole is fit soon!
