A boo-boo by Chelsea reserve goalkeeper Ross Turnbull helped Martin Jol’s Ajax to a 3-1 win in Amsterdam.
Young defender Jeffrey Bruma attempted to clear a cross but his header only struck Turnbull on the arm and flew into the net.
Daniel Sturridge equalised with an excellent finish, before Turnbull somehow failed to deal with a punt downfield by Maarten Stekelenburg, allowing Siem De Jong to slot home into an empty net. And all that before half-time.
Korea’s Suk Hyun-Jun sealed a comfortable win in the final minute as he tapped in Daley Blind’s cross. As you might have guessed, Daley Blind is the son of Ajax legend Danny Blind.
