Did Chelsea Follow West Ham’s Classy Lead And Sack Carlo Ancelotti In The Tunnel?

By Chris Wright

You may be aware by now that Chelsea have parted ways with Carlo Ancelotti for having the down-right temerity to wash up in second after securing the club it’s first ever domestic double twelve months ago, but reports are circulating this morning that the Blues hierarchy followed the West Ham board’s classy lead and decided to sack Ancelotti in the tunnel at Goodison Park.

Several papers are speculating as to the whys and wherefores of Ancelotti’s dismissal, but the Guardian are leading the charge, claiming that ”last year’s Double-winning manager was informed of the decision in a corridor.”

Apparently, Chelsea’s chief executive Ron Gourlay met Ancelotti at the foot of the stairs outside the Goodison media suite which is situated in the tunnel concourse after allowing him to carry out his post-match press conference, and duly told the Italian that he had been relieved of his duties.

Stay classy Chelsea, stay classy.

Carlos was a great manager, pity to see him go. A manager needs time to be successful..

as a chelsea fan this is getting embarrassing now

he was a good manager and seemed like a nice guy. whoever Ro-MAN gets in may be able to win the CL, but no one can win it every year

We will miss you and your amazing eyebrow

So who you reckon will come in? Rijjkard?

  5. Chris says:

@Davy: Seems like Van Basten is the bookies’ favourite as things stand, though I’ve got a sneaky feeling Guus Hiddink will be tempted back myself.

  6. Joe says:

No offence to a great player, but to go from Ancelotti (CL winner, got Chelsea their only double in his first season) to Van Basten (3 good games as Holland manager, mainly because he allowed the players to pick their own formation, and a mediocre season at Ajax in which a fan famously called him a ‘pancake’) would be madness of the highest order. If it happens, the Chelsea fans will be turning on Roman pretty quickly…

I was outraged when I saw this headline, ‘Sack Carlo Ancelotti In The Tunnel?’ but it turns out it was in a corridor…which is not as headline grabbing as tunnel! Ryan Giggs

now prepare everybody for new torture – wich is hiddinks press conferences – the definition of boring. on the over hand its good you don’t need to go and listen – he talks same cliches everytime:)

  9. Matt says:

Report is inaccurate. Chelsea TV says Gourlay met with Ancelotti in the visitor’s changing room after the players had departed.

  10. pete says:

he was average in his role as manager. good guy but didn’t offer anything resembling a plan B at any time in the last 2 years. we had no chance of winning the CL with him.

I was just processing Avram’s dole form, he’s written on there that he’s scored a fulltime job as manager at Chelsea FC, so won’t be need in the dole anymore!!

Once again, you are wrong, he was told in an empty change room after everyone else had left it. He was told then so he could say his goodbyes before everyone went on their break. British media, once again full of shit. Also once again stuffiong themselves good with this giggs stuff on champions league final week. So in the past twelve months, have taken the captaaincy of their national team leader JT, and they got f’d up in the world cup. Then they screwed up the world cup bid with some nice revalation. Now for the hatrick they are going to shame giggs before a big game. I dont know whats wrong over there but the media sure is f-ing the country up
