She said: "Grass stains are really hard. You need a biological washing powder that contains enzymes that will break down the proteins that you get in grass stains. But if it’s top-end it will be pure wool. Best not throw it in the machine; take it to a really good dry cleaner.

“If you’re looking for a home remedy, you’re going to end up using water and some sort of soap, but that will end up ruining the trousers, so get them to a dry cleaner ASAP. They’ve got very powerful chemicals — they can get most stuff out.”
