Tony Hibbert Finally Scores First Everton Goal, Goodison Park Erupts! (Video)
By Chris Wright
They said it could never happen, but in his testimonial game against AEK Athens last night, Tony Hibbert finally, finally scored his first goal for Everton.
After almost 11 years and 309 games of dedicated service without so much as troubling an opposition ‘keeper, Hibbo powered a 20-yard free-kick in at Dimitris Konstantopoulous’ near post and sent Goodison into rapture – sparking a mass congratulatory pitch invasion as 17,500-odd Evertonian’s sang ‘Tony Hibbert, he scores when he wants’ in unison as they deliriously celebrated something they thought they’d never get to see in their lifetime…
Everyone remembers their first, even if it turns out to also be their last!
For the record, the game finished 4-1 to Everton, with new signing Steven Naismith scoring a hat-trick on his Toffees debut.

Imagine if we’d have been waiting all this time and then he’d have cracked out a triple backflip and a couple of somersaults?
It was a great night Hibbo must have been terrified when everyone ran at him; but it was all in good spirits.
Naismith made his debut a couple weeks back in the Stevie Hammell testimonial at Motherwell – got roundly booed for his links with his former employers!
absolutely beautiful gesture by the fans. would have been so moved i could cry in awe if i was hibbert.
Well, at least AEK players weren’t surprised by the pitch invasion. It has now become a common feature in almost every match here in Greece.
@Zamboni: Really? Wow. Everton really are great hosts eh? Making the visiting team feel right at home..LOL
I’m a Liverpool Red but that really warmed my heart. Awesome reception from the fans.
