Ban him. Lock him up (preferably in an iron mask) and throw away the key. Steven Pienaar should never see the light of day again for this…
Joking of course. In all seriousness, has there ever been a softer red card in the Premier League? We’re certainly struggling to recall one.
It was Pienaar’s second bookable offence in the space of a few minutes, though to call it a yellow-worthy offence is still over-cooking by a bloomin’ mile – Bosingwa just clipped his swinging boot against Pienaar’s outstretched leg. It was an accident at best.
Seems like plain old, card-less fouls are quickly becoming a thing of the past in the top flight. We can’t have a stoppage in play without some sort of accompanying drama to go with it.
We don’t like to criticise referees necessarily here on Pies – it’s a ridiculously tough job and they’re ridiculously good at it the majority of the time – but Jon Moss had a bit of a shocker at Loftus Road yesterday, lousing up a few key calls.
