Everton 2-3 Crystal Palace – Premier League – 16th April 2014
Everton’s hopes of a Champions League spot are now once again out of their hands after the Toffees suffered a shock defeat at Goodison Park to Crystal Palace.
The Toffees struggled to click into gear throughout the game while the Eagles were bright from the start. In-form winger Jason Puncheon opened the scoring on 23 minutes before Scott Dann made it 2-0 after the break. The Toffees rallied, with Steven Naismith reducing the deficit only for Cameron Jerome to make it 3-1. A late Kevin Mirallas strike set up a dramatic finale but ultimately it was Tony Pulis’ impressive side who took all three points.
Palace are now a comfortable 10 points clear of danger while Everton are a point behind fourth-placed Arsenal.
