At the grand old age of 36, veteran Everton centre-back Sylvain Distin has officially called time on his international football after missing out on France’s World Cup squad.
With his langue firmly entrenched in his joue, Distin broke the news on Twitter earlier – announcing that, after amassing a grand total of 0 France caps over the years, he now wishes to concentrate solely on his Everton duties…
“I’m retiring from France team. It was a wonderful experience and after a record of #0 cap it’s time to say goodbye and focus on my club”
In all seriousness, it’s fairly astounding that a thoroughly decent centre-back like Distin hasn’t picked up at least one French cap along the way, no?
