Everton – West Ham United – Premier League – 22nd November 2014
On his 400th appearance for Everton, Leon Osman netted the winning goal in a rather edgy clash at Goodison Park.
Romelu Lukaku opened the scoring for the hosts on 26 minutes when the Belgium fired home after a Ross Barkley blocked shot. The Hammers, who were without a number of key men, pushed for an equaliser but it was Osman who would eventually score the decisive goal on 73 minutes. The visitors did get a goal back, courtesy of Mauro Zarate, in what was a game peppered with bad feeling. However, Everton stood firm to secure a vital win.
Roberto Martinez’s men go ninth, three places behind Sam Allardyce’s Hammers.
