Everton 1-1 West Ham United – FA Cup 3rd Round – 6th January 2015

A late strike from Romelu Lukaku gave a lacklustre Everton side an FA Cup lifeline at Goodison Park on Tuesday night.

Visitors West Ham were the better side for long periods in this game and eventually took the lead just before the hour-mark. Defender James Collins bagged that goal, heading home from a Morgan Amalfitano corner. And it looked as though Roberto Martinez’s side were headed for their fifth straight defeat as the hosts struggled to click into gear. However, with the game almost over, Belgian hitman Lukaku fired home Bryan Oviedo’s centre to relieve some of the tension around Goodison.

The two sides will now do it all over again at Upton Park with Doncaster Rovers or Bristol City waiting in the next round.
