Oumar Niasse is facing a potential two-match ban after becoming the first Premier League player to be retrospectively charged with simulation by The FA.
Inside the opening five minutes, the Everton striker collapsed under absolutely minimal contact from Crystal Palace captain Scott Dann when the two sides met at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon, with Leighton Baines converting the resulting penalty.
Dann immediately chastised Niasse after the match for “conning” a spot-kick out of referee Anthony Taylor and it looks like, having studied the footage, the FA are now in agreement.
Indeed, the Senegalese forward, who went on to score a late equaliser in the 2-2 draw, has been charged with the rather flouncy-sounding crime of the “Successful Deception of a Match Official”.
He has until this evening to respond, with a two-match ban looming on the horizon.

The last thing the Toffees need is one of their very scant strikers being removed from action, but let’s face it – Niasse has brought this on himself by so brazenly attempting to cheat.
