Wolverhampton Wanderers’ return to the Premier League was an action-packed affair at a rainy Molinuex on Saturday, with the hosts failing to make the most of their one-man-advantage in a 2-2 draw with Everton.

Expensive summer-signing Richarlison was the star of the show for the Toffess, with the Brazilian opening the scoring from close-range on 17 minutes.

That was Richarlison’s first shot in the Premier League for Everton.

Everton looked comfortable against a Wolves side who held onto the ball well without creating too much in the way of decent chances.

However, on 40 minutes, Marco Silva’s side suffered a blow when Phil Jagielka was sent off for a lunge on Diogo Jota after the defender lost control of the ball.

After a prolonged delay, Ruben Neves stepped up to fire home a fine free-kick, although England’s World Cup hero, Jordan Pickford, arguably should have done better.

After the break, Richarlison would put the 10-man Toffees 2-1 ahead, this time courtesy of a fine effort on 67 minutes.

Wolves continued to patiently look for an opening, and eventually they would get the equaliser, with Mexican striker Raul Jimenez heading past Pickford from a fine Neves centre.

Worringly for Everton, Richarlison was eventually forced off by injury.

However, the Merseysiders held on to take a point from a highly entertaining clash with a classy Wolves side who are sure to light up the top-flight this season.

A four-goal draw is a healthy start for both sides and their fans. Well played Wolves and Toffees.
