“You CANNOT be Syria…s”

It may come as quite a shock for you to learn that I am not, nor have I ever been, a pre-eminent commentator on the disputes and conflicts that have engulfed the Middle East over the years and, with that revelation in mind, I’m going to steer clear of the politics involved here and instead focus on the utter, undiluted lunacy.

A state-owned Syrian television channel are claiming, not for the first time, that Barcelona are assisting in the smuggling of weapons to Syrian rebels who are fighting against President Bashar Assad’s security forces by encoding smuggling routes within their formations during games.

Yep. Paranoia strikes deep, into your life it will creep.

In a segment aired last December, Al Dunya TV showed a clip from an El Clasico game between Barca and Real Madrid to illustrate their point…

The narrator claimed that Barca’s formation was clearly depicting arms smuggling routes to Syrian rebels with the players representing the smugglers and the ball’s position representing the current location of the weapons. Apparently, according to the narrator, when Lionel Messi passes the ball, it indicates that the weapons have successfully reached the rebels in Dir al-Zur.

Which, you don’t need me to tell you, is absolute rot – though, if Pies is mysteriously taken offline as a result of this post, we’d just like to take the opportunity here and now to pledge undying allegiance to our new noble Syrian overlords.

If this is the case, surely the smugglers will keep the arms for a long time, pass them forward, look to pass them even further along then pass them back again.

    Satire.

  2. Beryllium says:

That final Syrian rebel was in danger of being offside then, that would have meant he’d have to give all the weapons back.

    Seems pretty conclusive to me

  8. Murray says:

Seeing that some of Messi’s movements simply appear to be in avoidance of Real Madrid’s defenders, would that mean that Real Madrid are in on this secret code scheme, too? Are their movements supposed to represent Assad’s forces’ movements?

  9. Digger says:

So are the Rebels supposed to dive when the Barca players dive? God help the guy who is the Sergio Busquets of the rebels.

  10. Varun says:

    Guess what

how much money did the figther paid to Barcelona to pass that plan during the game.
i know that 30 sec add cost some million dollar or so, guess howm much something like this will cost

  20. Tim Lovejoy says:

Right because the english, american and other NATO operatives on the ground that have been there since the start are not in communication with the rebels.
It seems strange after hearing how this was the case in Lybia taht NATO is NOT involved in this uprising as well.

Youd have to be almost a total moron to believe that these events are happening on their own unlike every other case.

of course english blogs ran that Messi Loves Oasis meme to death two years ago for a good 6months before teh WC. When a reporter finally asked messi about this he went “Oasis who?”.

So please forgive me for not believing a single word of this fairy tale. Its bad enough we get this BS when were ready to invade a new country to justify crimes, lets not try to make people believe even more stupid things. People will believe anything and people are easy to manipulate. Thats why more than half the people at a certain point believed that Saddam was responsible for 911.
