Hup-hup-huzzah! Some wonderful  for fans of moronic troglodytes getting exactly what they deserve, with the news that the Leeds fan that attacked Sheffield Wednesday ‘keeper Chris Kirkland in his goalmouth when the two sides met on Friday night has been jailed for four months.

21-year old Aaron Cawley has been jailed for 16 weeks, banned for life by Leeds and given a five-year football banning order for his despicable, feral attack on Kirkland, with Leeds themselves saying that the club “feel the sentence could, and should, have been considerably longer.”

Yep, we’d be inclined to agree. ‘Causing a public nuisance’ by disrupting the University boat race: Six months. Straight-arm punching a man to the ground at his place of work: Four.

Thank god those stadiums are all-seaters, so nothing can…ehhm…wait.

  2. Nick says:

I just noticed that the guy ran back into the stands through a pair of security guards. How the hell

    Big Dave meet Little Aaron.

  4. supa phil says:

Look, that guy is an idiot. What he did is so stupid. He should be imprisoned for assault

    BUT

Come on. It couldn’t have hurt so bad that the keeper had to go to ground and roll around. Get up, you big lump. He got pushed in the face. Do you know what would have happened if a fan did that to hockey player? He’d be tied up in a goalmouth somewhere and the team would be taking finishing practice at him.

  5. Si says:

@Supa Phil – in fairness, that is the same thing that I thought on first viewing. Ditto with the “bomb scare” on another Pies post. The players just roll around randomly before getting up as if nothing has happened.

That said, this bloke deserves to be banned from every ground in the country. And made someone’s bitch in prison.

  6. Jamie says:

Ok, what the guy did was absolutely horrendous but can people at least report what he did correctly? He didn’t punch him, he pushed him in the face. Sky Sports were the worst, describing a video they were watching completely wrong.

  7. Nuno says:

    @supa phil
First of all, the keeper wasn’t expecting that one coming and he got hit right in the chin. That can seriously hurt.
And what did you want the keeper to do? Go after the stupid cunt to the stands? He may have exaggerated a bit, but he also wanted to make sure the game was stopped and he got the proper treatment.
Mostly the players just want to make sure they are at 100% before they get up when something as unexpected as this and the “bomb scare” happens.
I mean, it’s not like what happened to Dida a few years back, when he got the slightest of touches, in this case you can see his head really get pushed back.

  8. Hirsty says:

The guy already had a banning order before this match. Fat lot of use that did. Pathetic punishment.

  9. Jock says:

    @Supa phil

kirkland described it quite well himself that it was a complete shock and that he had no idea what the guy had in his hand if anything.
Suppose you can go foetal in that situation.

    Dear Britain,

How you deal with an unruly fan.

Marko, I do indeed dislike Canada but damn that is some justice.

Another stellar example of the UK’s flawless judiciary system.

It’s a shame really because I think he has seriously misrepresented that charming, well-spoken, tolerant, highly intelligent, modern, forward thinking and wonderful group of intellectuals – Leeds Utd fans.

  14. C says:

Biggest loser in this farse? The Leeds fans. They really don’t need more bad rep.

It aint prejudice if its true, right?

  15. Anabelle says:

Good lord, Who hired these losers as security guards?
My grandmother could do a better security job than these clowns.

  16. Skips says:

More bad rep??? They really don’t care. They LIKE it. I walk everyday amongst them on the streets of Leeds. They are morons.

  17. plops says:

4 months for a push in the face does seem a bit excessive. They should get him to do some litterpicking or something wearing Leeds’ biggest rival’s shirt.

  18. […] the worst ‘attack’ we’ve ever seen (the Leeds fan pie-facing Sheff Wed keeper Chris Kirkland not long ago instantly springs to mind – he was jailed for 16 weeks), but that doesn’t […]

  19. Mike says:

Four months is clearly a bit light. Especially considering his previous…
