<Insert “feeling woof” pun here>

According to several reports emanating from France, perma-crock Yoann Gourcuff hasn’t been training with the rest of the Lyon squad so far this week after picking up an ankle injury.

Nothing overly noteworthy about that, you may muse – especially considering the midfielder’s injury record over the past few years – but just wait until you hear about how he sustained said knack d’ankle.

Apparently Gourcuff, who has spent the vast majority of the season nursing one boo-boo or another, somehow managed to turned his ankle while taking his dog for a walk on Monday, thus leaving him unable to train for a couple of days before returning to the fold on Wednesday.

This is after Gourcuff limped off at half-time during Lyon’s game against Saint-Etienne back on March 30th having twisted the very same ankle, side-lining him for the next eight games.

He didn’t appear again until coming on for the last ten minutes of Lyon’s game against Lorient last Saturday and, due to his dog-walking debacle, it’s now thought that the brittle midfielder will miss Lyon’s final game of the season against Nice at the weekend.

A fitting end to a frankly rubbish season.
