With Zlatan Ibrahimovic sitting out once again due to a pesky Achilles injury, Sweden picked up their first win of the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign on Sunday evening with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Lichtenstein – though Erik Hamren’s side had to rely heavily on outrageous fortune to get the job done.
With Erkan Zengin putting Sweden 1-0 up after half-an-hour with a heavily deflected opener, Lichtenstein ‘keeper Cengiz Biçer put in all the hard yards for the Swedes’ second of the night – slicing a horrible “clearance” directly into the path of Jimmy Durmaz, who took grateful receipt of his gift and duly poked the ball home…
And what does scoring for Sweden get you? A big hug from the alpha male…
