Mark Ablett, a Sheffield Wednesday fan, has been banned from attending football matches in England for the next three years for the heinous crime of chucking an orange at a Fulham supporter during a recent game.

Ablett, 29, was pinched after being captured on CCTV hurling the piece of fruit during the Championship fixture between the two sides just before Christmas.

He was duly removed from the ground by stewards shortly after Wednesday had gone 4-0 down and charged with an offence under the Football Offences Act.

Ablett, who works as a financial officer for a charity, was found guilty at Hammersmith Magistrates court yesterday after confessing that he “may have been stupid and thrown a tangerine or something,”

He was then hit with a three-year football banning order and a £360 fine.

As far as Pies can fathom, Mr Ablett doesn’t intend on a-peeling against the decision, though it really does take the pith if you ask us.

Badum and, indeed, tish.
