Bayer Leverkusen coach Heiko Herrlich has been stung with a hefty €12,000 fine for diving during a DfB Pokal match against Borussia Monchengladbach back in mid-December.
Down on the touchline, Herrlich collapsed to the floor in spectacular fashion when Gladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria strayed into his general vicinity to pick up a loose ball.
Herrlich was immediately repentant after the game (which Leverkusen won 1-0), publicly apologising for his “stupid” behaviour.
However, the DfB were unwilling to let the apology suffice and have since hit the 46-year-old with a sizeable additional punishment…

Lesson learned. Just because everybody else is doing it, it doesn’t make it okay.
