The agent of midfielder Michael Ballack has planted his fuß firmly in his mund by branding the current Germany squad ‘a bunch of gays’.
Michael Becker, who has represented Ballack since 1999, allegedly made the remarks in an interview with Der Speigel magazine two months prior to the World Cup.
Writer Alexander Osang, who conducted the interview, has recounted the unpublished comments made by Becker in which the agent claimed to know which players in the national side were gay and referred to one of the players as ‘half-gay’.
Osang went on to say that Becker put the newly adopted ‘elegant’ style of play that has become a trademark of Joachim Löw‘s players down to their homosexuality, in contrast to the more aggressive traditional German style of the past.
Becker is also reported to have suggested that there was a ‘former German national player who was ready to expose a ‘bunch of gays’ within the current squad’.
In summary, Osang added that homosexuality was ‘a synonym for anything that Becker did not understand’ which is sadly a concept that is all-too depressingly familiar.
