West End to see a “Theatre of Dreams” show based on Becks?

A songwriter is talking with West End producers about staging a musical based on the life of David Beckham. No suprise really – in fact, I’m surprised it hasn’t happened sooner.
Librettist Mark Archer has written a collection of songs for the musical, titled “The Theatre of Dreams”. For example, on meeting Posh Spice for the first time, Beckham sings:

A change has come around,
As I worship this ground,
With you in my life,
We’re turning the world upside down

Stirring stuff. But with a recession looming, is any theatre prepared to take a chance on what could be a huge flop? We’ll see…
