Football Video: Real Madrid humiliated 4-0 by Alcorcon in Spanish Cup
Alcorcon 4-0 Real Madrid, Copa del Rey
A historic night for the lower-league side (they play in the Segunda B, the Spanish equivalent of League One in England), even though Real put out a slightly weakened side. And one small crumb of comfort for the visitors: this was only the first leg, so Real aren’t out of the Copa del Rey yet – the return leg is on 10 November and I wouldn’t be surprised if Madrid find a way to sneak through at the Bernabeu.
At this rate, Real’s head coach Manuel Pellegrini will be looking for a new job. Reports suggest that Real’s notoriously impatient board have given Pellegrini two games to prove that he’s the right man for the job.
I’d say two games is generous. If Real lose to Getafe this weekend in La Liga, the Chilean will surely be sacked.
