Who Is The Laziest Player In The Premier League?

By Ollie Irish

Earlier this week, Pies asked you to vote for The Hardest-Working Player In The Premier League. Now it’s the turn of the slackers and shirkers.

So, in your opinion who is the laziest player in the Prem?

8136703

A few names to conjure with: Dimitar Berbatov, Dimitar Berbatov, Dimitar Berbatov and, er, Emmanuel Adebayor?

Let’s have it…

    Denilson?

  2. nicko says:

    Berba

  3. Jupe says:

    Denilson, Geovanni..

  4. mareantheone says:

    anelka 2 years ago :))

  5. Ben says:

gary neville. Only wing back in the prem who has neva been in the opponants half. Dont care how old he is. If hes to old to make the occasional bomb up the flank, he shudnt be on the pitch. Waster.

  6. Ed says:

What are you talking about Ben? Neville is well known for his overlapping runs throughout his career.

  7. Blue says:

Got to be Benjani, like a statue, can’t even stay awake long enough to catch a flight!

  8. El Pato says:

“gary neville. Only wing back in the prem who has neva been in the opponants half. Dont care how old he is. If hes to old to make the occasional bomb up the flank, he shudnt be on the pitch. Waster.”

He did a fabulous job pinging in those crosses from inside his own half then…

  9. Daniel says:

Has Ben ever watched a game of football? Do you know what Gary Neville looks like or that United play in red. Jesus wept that is ridiculous. He puts more balls in than Glen Johnson or Rafael for that matter!?

  10. kimblim says:

    @Ben:
That’s a bit harsh, isn’t it? It might be true of the Gary Neville of 2010, but from 1995 to 2005, Gary Neville was the finest right back in the country and he – as I remember it – made plenty of surging runs on the right, especially in the David Beckham years, when he supported his best friend in splendid fashion.. Maybe it stopped with Ronaldo, because I remember Gary Neville saying that there was no point as “you’re not going to get the ball from him anyways”..

In my view, Gary Neville is a United legend – and I think he did alright for England as well!

  11. Delboy Dublin says:

Berbatov by a country mile, also (dis)honourable mention for Deco

  12. AP says:

It may only have been one match, but I just remember Vedran Ćorluka not making a single tackle in one of the last matches of the season for Spurs last season. Just completely gone on holiday too early. Think Match of the Day highlighted it as well, it was incredible to watch such lack of effort.

  13. jonno says:

    tevez

  14. PADDY says:

BERBA, ROBINHO, BENTNER, KANU, MIDO, SANTA CRUZ, ELMANDER, SCOTLAND. DOES JO COUNT?

  15. alex says:

just because his style of play would seem “lazy”, he’s not an actual lazy player. he still contributes more to the team than a lot of people on that roster, and the fact that he spends a lot of time on the bench, he’s now lazy.. don’t get it. being forced to sit doesnt make you lazy thats like saying tevez was lazy last year.

  16. Kevin M says:

Denilson. Anyone who gets outrun on a counter by a ref does not deserve to be a professional footballer.

  17. Chris says:

It’s a bit after the fact, but… Robinho?

  18. smithy says:

    kanuuuuuu

  19. Joe says:

Micah Richards. Was to blame for both England’s loss against Croatia at Wembley and City’s last minute capitulation v United, both times because he just didn’t bother to run after his man. Also, Adebayor deserves a mention. I’ve never seen a game with him in it in which he wasn’t sitting down in the opposition box every two minutes.

  20. Grant says:

    Berba

  21. eamogomez says:

    Berba

  22. Sharmarke Abdullahi says:

    berbadebainho

  23. Ruben says:

    Kuyt

  24. Anonymous says:

    pavlyuchenko

  25. Fredmeister says:

Berba looks like it but he had the most assists for united last season. Hes a lot better than he was a couple of years ago, but still definitely up there.

  26. Fredmeister says:

    BOOM!

Lucas Neill. Lazy Shitbag. Just lets people go past him then kicks them.

  27. dilly says:

    Denilson

  28. joshua says:

    Tevez? Are you kidding?

    Berbatov. Berbatov. Berbatov. Lazytov.

  29. Yankee Manc says:

    Kenwyne Jones…

  30. Tim says:

    Gary Neville? Are you joking?

And he’s not a Wing Back, he’s a Side Back.

And he rocked between 1995 and 2000. So don’t diss.

    /

Anyway, there’s only one answer everybody can give, because he is.

    B.E.R.B.A.T.O.V

    /

Will be sold soon enough – more lazy player in history.

  31. spectator says:

senderos. he’s been sitting down for two years. lazy boy.

  32. lionheart says:

Whoever said Tevez was lazy must have been joking. The answer is clearly Berbatov closely followed by Bentener of Arsenal.

  33. Anonymous says:

Remember when fans and so called ‘pundits’ had the nerve/ignorance to criticize Berbatov’s effort last year? I do. I also remember how Fergie came out and said Berbatov had run more than Rooney AND headless CarliTOSS..

    Take the glasses off, haters…

  34. Stewie says:

  35. Patrick says:

    Ben,

You have the memory of a goldfish.

Gary is well past his best, but 1) wing back? Are you sure?
    2) Never been in the opponents’s half? Get real – watch Euro 96? You might remember Neville’s cross for Shearer’s header?
    3) Watch yesterday? He even managed a good ball to Berb…..yes from inside the area!

This story is about laziness….Gary could never be called that. Slow?Lacking in skill? Maybe, but never lazy, never a slacker, never a shirker.

  36. megaman789 says:

    Obviously Berba!

  37. Quasit says:

    Berbatov by a mile.

  38. Ben says:

james, never seen him (or any other goalies) even lightly jog

  39. Ben says:

by the way im not the gary neville dissin’ ben

  40. Deano says:

Yeah Neville, so lazy. Gary Neville how did he become footballer.

    Lazy lazy lazy

  41. Pierre says:

    All Brazilians I think.

    Fuckin wasters.

    Useless

  42. Kylie says:

Oh come on, leave Berbatov alone! Last season he was 4th in ‘distance covered’ in the Opta stats so you can’t say he’s lazy!

I would say Robinho is the laziest, but he’s gone back to Brazil now…

  43. Ty says:

    David Bentley

  44. Lupek says:

Adebayor. Least team-playing man in the league. Most detached from his team player in the world. Mercenary doesn’t even begin to describe him.

  45. mxpro says:

    Amr Zaki

  46. bill says:

i have to sday berb is lazy but pure class (and i’m not a utd suporter), its adebayor, he is shit and lazy, i wish he was out the prem!!!
