Talking Point: Who is the most skilful player in the Premier League?

7949572

A simple question for this unseasonably mild Wednesday… who is the most skilful player in the Premier League?

It’s an interesting question, I think, especially now that Cristiano Ronaldo no longer plays in England.

Players definitely seem to get a little less time on the ball in England than they do in Europe’s other major leagues, so you don’t see that many players showing off their tricks; they don’t have the time.

A few names to conjure with before you have your say: Robin van Persie, Nani, Joe Cole, Fernando Torres, Ryan Giggs, Andrey Arshavin, Robinho, Mikel Arteta, Dimitar Berbatov, Wayne Rooney… ah, you know who the main candidates are.

Anyway, I’d be interested to hear your thoughts…

well michael owen is showing a little of that magic from his ballon de oro win, but overall id say nani and berbatov, but i dont understand torres…hes a shite

  17. Jimmy Buffett says:

Alex, did you get kicked in the head or something? Berbatov cost 30m and is shit. Torres scored 47 in 66. It’s like comparing Robbie Williams with Bob Dylan.

  18. Brown Pil says:

    SONKO

  19. Paddy says:

    arshavin by a country mile

  20. commentator says:

im an arsenal fan so i’d have to say arshavin but ryan giggs has got superb skill in almost every aspect. He only lacks the speed

  21. Tom P. says:

    Kevin Davies of course.

  22. Chringle says:

    Zamora?

  23. boston spur says:

    Modric !

  24. Jelly Bean says:

Well as an Arsenal fan my first thought was Arshavin… then decided to be impartial. Torres, I reckon :)

  25. Billy Jean says:

    Robinho!

  26. Ian says:

berbatov has the best touch for sure

  27. Dimi says:

In terms of pure skill, Dimitar Berbatov. He might not be effective, but he can work some magic

  28. Meji says:

berbatov and im not the biggest fan

  29. R Hops says:

Ryan Giggs or Berbatov. RVP as well, but Giggsy all the way!

  30. roykeane says:

    hey why anelka’s pic on?
am a chelsea fan and i guess the verdict is Joey cole. CASE CLOSED

  31. Daniel says:

    Aaron Lennon without doubt.

  32. Anonymous says:

Ryan Giggs, are you kidding me, he is like 38 and a piece of shit

  33. chet says:

    robinho.
but arsha, joe cole, and jermain defoe (based on his unbelievable technical ability) are right there as well.

  34. kritter says:

Berbatov. Although Cesc is a first touch wizard.

  35. Darren says:

    Fernando Torres!

  36. kobst says:

first off, the nomination for aaron lennon must be ridiculed. That is just a horrible choice. berbatov has a great touch but not the dribbling skills. Giggs has no flash, no jukes. not anymore

its gotta be robinho or arshavin. honorable mention to Torres.

  37. Joshua says:

Definitely Edwin van der Sar. His dribbling, pace, and crossing skills are amazing.

  38. Lamps says:

    JOE COLE !!!!!!!!

    Steven Ireland

  40. Hirsty says:

    Nicky Hunt.

  42. josh says:

    lol @ adebayor

  43. John says:

    ARSHAVIN
Ollie you should count the results and put them up

  44. rVp says:

    Robin van Persie.

  45. Zarif says:

Yossi Benayoun. His close control and dribbling is fantastic, he’s criminally underrated.

  46. chris says:

    modric

  47. Gooner365 says:

First touch skill I’ll have to say Fabregas and Berbatov.

  48. Gerry says:

Glad to see so many Berbatov votes. I don’t think Torres shows that much skill, he is more direct and a good finisher. Joe Cole has skill, Giggs of course still has the magic even though he’s lost a yard of pace is still faster than most. Patrice Evra has some silky ones. Robinho has quick feet too.. Rio has shown some skills too, but he plays it safe mostly. It’s a hard one. Obviously it would’ve been a no brainer last season with Ronaldo being there.

  49. Quincy says:

No-one for the other Dutchman in the EPL?
I’ll go for him then: Ryan Babel!
    xx

  50. dreamfight3r says:

    Robin van Persie, definitely

  51. phenom says:

    if not Torres then Drogba
