Fans in attendance at Yeovil Towns’ New Year’s Day fixture against Crawley were rendered temporarily befuddled when play was stopped mid-match with no explanation from the officials.

Indeed, the League Two fixture was interrupted for over 10 minutes when a UFO was spotted hovering in the inky gloom above Huish Park.

Play was stopped in the 80th minute and the players ushered from the pitch by referee Brett Huxtable.

Crawley’s club secretary Carol Bates managed to grab a little footage of the interloping craft as it made its hasty retreat…

The drone duly went on to play a decisive role in the match, with Crawley capitalising on the swathes of resultant stoppage time to grab a winning goal in the 98th minute.
