Everton – Fulham – Premier League – 28th May 2012

He may have struggled during his time at White Hart Lane, but since moving back to Everton on loan, South African schemer Steven Pienaar has rediscovered his best form. Against Fulham on Saturday, the midfielder was outstanding, dominating the middle of the park and setting up three of the Toffees’ four goals.

Another Everton player in superb form is Croat Nikica Jelavic, and the former Rangers man was on target once again, netting first from the penalty spot on 40 minutes and then again nearer the break. Marouane Fellaini and Tim Cahill also got on the scoresheet as the Cottagers struggled to get a foothold in the game.

David Moyes’ men are now in seventh place, two points clear of rivals Liverpool. Martin Jol’s Fuham are five points behind the Toffees, in ninth spot.

    Toffee here…

I used to watch Pienaar a lot when he was at Spurs (which was once in a blue moon might I add) and you could just tell that it wasn’t the gig for him.

I think he needs to be don 1 at a club and at Everton he’s clearly appreciated/needed as our #1 midfield schemer, and as a result he plays out of his skin knowing that he’s appreciated.

Have it on good authority that we’ll see him back here permanentley in the summer, very welcome.
