Photos: Basle 2-3 Fulham – Cottagers qualify for Europa League knockout stage

Mini match report: Prior to last night, Basle had won all five of their previous European home games this season – and by two goals or more – while Fulham had precisely zero wins away in the Europa League.

But Fulham were good value for their win in Switzerland, which sees them progress to the last 32, although Basle fought until the final whistle for the draw they needed.

Bobby Zamora, who scored twice, was a menace up front for the Cottagers, while Danny Murphy ran the show from midfield – if Fabio Capello is looking for an assured playmaker who takes a mean penalty to take to South Africa as Frank Lampard’s deputy, he really could do a lot worse than Murphy.
