Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Fulham v Sunderland - Craven Cottage

While the news hasn’t been made official quite yet, we’re hearing that Adel Taarabt has landed in Italy and has finalised a six-month loan move from QPR to AC Milan (points on offer to anyone out there who can name the last player to make that switch), with the Italian club also retaining the option to make the Moroccan’s transfer permanent at the end of the season for a €7million fee.

Taarabt, whose season-long loan at Fulham has been cut short for him to move to the Rossoneri, arrived at Linate airport for his medical yesterday and was seen wearing a Milan scarf as he did so.

Gazzetta dello Sport managed to grab a few words with the player as he made his way to Milanello, with Taarabt gushing about having the opportunity to play at “the best club in the world” – this being roughly a year or so after he dismissed rumours of a move to the very same club on the basis that they were “no longer among the world’s top clubs” and that he’d only be interested in joining them as a stepping stone to “huge clubs like Real Madrid or Barcelona.”

Hey ho.

“I am honoured to be able to play in the best club in the world,” Taarabt told Gazzetta dello Sport. “Clarence Seedorf and I talked and we are both happy.”

“I’m a striker and I also like to play behind the strikers. I do not know Balotelli personally, but I know who he is and I am pleased to be able to play with him.”

*Sigh*

To echo the musings of Michael Moruzzi (@Regista_Michael), there was a time when being AC Milan’s ‘No.10′ was the preserve of only the very finest calibre. Now a half-arsed, unwarranted, egotistical little nobody like Taarabt gets to have a whirl.

Sign o’ the times, we suppose.
