Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Fulham v Southampton - Craven Cottage

Despite bringing in a number of players during the transfer window and having a backroom staff which includes Ray Wilkins and Alan Curbishley, Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen is facing one hell of a challenge to keep his side in the Premier League this season. On Saturday, he watched he side go down courtesy of three second half goals against Southampton. The Saints’ English forward line of Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Jay Rodriguez all scored, with Rodriguez’s curling strike quite superb. The Cottagers did show glimpses of quality throughout the game but overall they were well beaten by Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who stay ninth. Fulham, on the other hand, find themselves bottom of the Premier League for only the second time in their history (and the first time was after only two games of a season).
