West Ham United are reportedly furious with Fulham, due to the ‘weakened’ team selection The Cottagers fielded in their recent 2-0 defeat at the hands of Hull City – a result that saw Hull remain in the relegation zone but go level on points with The Hammer with a game in hand.

West Ham are preparing to lodge a complaint with the Premier League after Fulham boss Roy Hodgson rested five key players (Bobby Zamora, Damien Duff, Danny Murphy, Aaron Hughes and Dickson Etuhu) with this evening’s Europa League clash with Wolfsburg in mind.

West Ham are apparently not willing to accept that a club’s best European campaign in their history is a good enough reason for resting players, and a Hammers spokesman has explained their view on the matter;

“Roy Hodgson admitted on television that he had rested players because he had an important Europa League match coming up, He admitted fielding a weakened team. From our point of view that’s awful and we are going to put in a complaint.”

Some unscrupulous souls may say all this is a bit rich coming from a club who seem to have been fielding a weakened side all season. You can almost taste the desperation.

Let’s have a little look at Fulham’s team for that fateful game with Hull shall we? Schwarzer, Konchesky, Hangeland, Smalling, Baird, Shorey, Dikgacoi, Gera, Riise, Davies, Dempsey.

Does that sound particularly weakened to you? Nope, me neither. What the hell are squads for if you can’t use them?

Oh well, let’s all wish West Ham luck with their claim. Let us know how it works out for you guys.

  4. Dan says:

    Bit rich coming from them seeing as though they benefited hugely from Man Utd’s massively weakened team on the final day of 2006/7!

  5. AP says:

    It’s ridiculous, but then again, Wolves got slapped with a fine.

  6. TomB says:

    If Roy has any sense of justice, he will field the exact same squad when West Ham come to the Cottage on May 1. The pregame speech is already written for him. “Alright lads, these are the people who called you a “weakened” side. Let’s go out and show them just how weak you are”.

    Heh.

    Fulham 5 West Ham 0

    hammer1980: Go back to beating your wife. It’s not our fault that West Ham are so shit.

  8. Patrick says:

    oooh shut up Zola, you should worry about winning games or at least taking some points so you’re not relegated instead of what other teams are doing. Zammora and Etuhu were out with a virus anyway I believe.

    @hammer1980-

    i would define pompous as making a judgement without even refering to easily accessible information on the side of the window. (i.e. Ollie is a spud).

    reflect on the fact that you tend to need to sign players illegally to avoid relegation…

    I’m a Fulham fan and I hate those cockney hammer pricks anyway. This just shows the class of their team. I’m fairly sure they’ve made 5 changes to their team at some point this year anyway. Oh well hopefully they’ll get relegated as they seem to have run out of ways of cheating instead of playing. good riddance.
