Wigan Athletic 0-2 Fulham – Premier League – October 2011
It’s now eight league defeats in a row for Wigan Athletic after Roberto Martinez’ side went down 2-0 at home to Fulham.
Despite dominating for large periods of the game, the home side couldn’t find a way past Fulham ‘keeper Mark Schwarzer, with striker Hugo Rodallega continuing his worrying goul drought.
The under-rated Clint Dempsey eventually opened the scoring for the visitors after being set up by Bobby Zamora. However, Wigan continued to press, hitting the woodwork more than once but ultimately never making their posession count. Then, with five minutes left on the clock, Belgian striker Moussa Dembelé killed off Wigan with his side’s second goal of the game.
Martinez needs to find a solution to his side’s current malaise and find it fast.
