To counteract an achingly slow day in the football world, we thought we’d treat you to a little game with which to while away a few minutes of your time.

With subtle shades of the club nickname-spotting game BT Sport launched last year, all you have to do is successfully identify the 37 different football league teams from the visual clues hidden around ‘The Eternal Optimist’, i.e, the pub made famous by the Carlsberg Fan Squad TV advert.

If you manage to track down and identify all 37 clubs in Carlsberg’s special 360º image then you’ll be in with a chance of winning a pair of tickets to watch England vs Peru at Wembley on 30th May – England’s final match on home soil before they toddle off to Brazil.

Have a crack at Carlsberg’s Eternal Optimist game by clicking on the link below (you have to be over 18), and feel free to let us know how you got on…

    the red fish
    the fishing net and trumpets
the yellow submarine (no matter how many times i tried Villarreal)
the portrait in the chair with mustache and monocle

    grrrrrrrrr

  2. Monkey WIth No Name says:

Don’t know why the Chelsea one was what it was, the red fish is easy once you do some maths.

  3. itfcjosh says:

yellow submarine is the beatles song…. Liverpool.
portrait is of a posh man…. peterborough

im missing that silver bird thing
    red fish
    chess pieces

  4. Set says:

    Chesspieces is Royals.
Still missing the silverbird and the red fish.

  5. AntiWanKenobi says:

@1 – The trumpets are horns. Hornets – Watford.
    @2 – Chelsea pensioners.
@3 – Chess pieces are Royals – Reading.

Now you all help me with…. everything else.

  6. Tim Hamilton says:

The hat and walking stick signify a pensioner, therefore Chelsea.

  7. scotspur says:

    silver bird — bristol city.

math for red fish? one fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish?!?!

  8. Jebediah says:

What in holy hell is the red fish?!? I feel like I’ve tried all 92 clubs already

  9. Mark says:

the black hat on the table???????
the shield/sword combo on the wall?????????????

  20. Monkey WIth No Name says:

Ahhh Mag Pies, I thought it was Newcastle just cos of their reputation for eating pies…. As for Chelsea Pensioners I was going down the completely wrong train of thought, but as Chelsea were the only premiership team not in there I took the punt.

  21. dukla prague says:

Finally finished. Very sneaky Carlsberg, very sneaky… The autocomplete on Google for “Football team nickname…” is quite amusing at the moment too.

  22. Maria says:

Can’t get the lone ranger picture.

Black hat on the table is a Pligrim’s hat. Shield/ sword think steel.

  23. maria says:

ahhh, got it. It’s a villain!

  24. tim says:

just need the picture of jesus???

  25. Fabian says:

There has been a post by the pies showing old game (?) cards with the nicknames of many english clubs. Being a foreigner, this probably helps a lot, but I cant find it any more. Could someone help me out?

  30. mabbit w says:

Why on earth can’t I get the fox? I tried every name in the league. Shouldn’t it be Leicester City?
