According to the fine people over at the German national team’s official Facebook page, it looks like Marco Reus is the latest name to be scrawled on the ever-lengthening World Cup injury list after suffering ankle ligament damage during Germany’s friendly against Armenia last night.

Germany spanked Armenia 6-1 but Reus didn’t make it to half-time – turning his ankle while tussling with Artur Yedigaryanl and limping off in the 43rd minute, looking close to tears as he hobbled gingerly down the tunnel.

Reus was taken to hospital and it is now feared that he may miss the World Cup entirely, meaning he’ll be joining the likes of Franck Ribery, Radamel Falcao, Kevin Strootman, Rafael van der Vaart, Riccardo Montolivo, Theo Walcott, Jay Rodriguez, Thiago Alcantara, Victor Valdes, Jese, Mario Gomez, Christian Benteke, Kyle Walker and Ilkay Gundogan on the crock list.

Several other players are also currently major injury doubts, with the likes of Luis Suarez, Diego Costa, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Manuel Neuer  and Cristiano Ronaldo all battling against various niggling knacks in time to make appearances in Brazil.

Bit depressing really, innit?

One of the most important players in the German squad, if you ask me. Plus he was in excellent shape. Too bad. ;(

With so many out on injury, I cannot imagine how any country will be able to field a complete side.

I suggest all teams forfeit their matches to avoid embarrassment on the field.
