England’s last warm-up game before the World Cup was interrupted in rather unusual circumstances on Saturday evening. Half way through the first half of England’s meeting with Honduras in Florida, the officials decided to suspend the game for 30 minutes due to a potentially dangerous nearby lightning storm. Odd stuff!

Rickie Lambert has goals in him this World Cup. He needs to play. My prediction: he’ll be brought on late in all three matches, score two goals, and No other English striker will score. Maybe a Gerrard penalty somewhere along the line. Play Barkley, Sterling and Lambert.

  2. Jake says:

Very standard American stuff to suspend a game for 30 minutes whenwe see lightning or hear thunder, nothing odd.

  3. Jarren says:

Some truly “shocking” misses from Sturridge.

The game missed the “lightning” pace of Sterling.

Not to mention some “thunderous” tackles from the Hondurans.

    …I’ll get my coat.

  4. Alex says:

Someone had to do it, Jarren :)

  5. Paul says:

Totally agree with JuanosDios. Ricky Lambert is a proven goal scorer and if a chance falls at his feet 9/10 times it’s in the back of the net. Strange to say it but i think he’s our best striker. That man has had one hell of a career

It was crap, england were crap, honduras were crap, the weather was crap, Sturridge was crap, Lampard’s passing was crap, Cahill’s positional play was crap. But as an indication of how teams will do in the World cup friendlys less than a week before are … (well you get the picture).
PS Barkers has to be nailed on for a starting place and Lampard a lock for the glue factory.

  7. Dave says:

And how awful was that annoying buffoon Chiles during that 30 mins.

  8. stoffel says:

Why is it “odd” to suspend a match due to a “potentially dangerous” storm?
