Gabor Kiraly is a bit of a character. The chunky 40-year-old, who became the oldest player ever to play in a Euro finals competition this month has enjoyed a fine career, lining out for the likes of Hertha Berlin, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Burnley.

Famed for donning ill-fitting, baggy grey sweatpants when he plays, Kiraly’s iconic style choices have now resonated on the other side of the Atlantic.

Superb stuff!

Kiraly’s choice of trackie bottoms came initially for protection when playing on hard surfaces. However, it soon turned into a superstition which continues to this day.

Forget David Beckham or Paul Pogba, good old Gabor is a true fashion icon.

First saw this guy during the national anthem in their opening match. I thought, “Good god, that guy looks like a bouncer at a strip club!” Then they reveal he’s the oldest guy to ever play in the Euro Cup. THEN I see his pants! Amazing.
