World Cup Qualifying: Bolivia Striker Marcelo Moreno Joins Brazil’s Pre-Match Team Photo

Eagle-eyed viewers of Brazil’s World Cup qualifying match against Bolivia last night might have spotted a little unorthodox to-doing during the pre-match team photos.

This was because Bolivia striker Marcelo Martins ended up posing in Brazil’s ensemble photo, a lone island of green amid a sea of yellow…

Marcelo was invited to stand with the Selecao having represented Brazil at youth level, all the way up to Under-20 level, before pledging his senior international allegiance to the land of his birth, Bolivia.

The 30-year-old forward (who spent 12 forgettable games on loan at Wigan in 2010) qualified for Brazil by virtue of having a Brazilian father, but eventually wound up representing the country from which his mother hails, earning 63 caps for La Verde.

Anyway, after posing with his former compatriots, Marcelo then scampered back to join the rest of his Bolivian teammates for a second team photo…

The match went on to end 0-0, with Brazil having already sealed their qualification for Russia 2018.
