Portugal winger Nani is the latest high-profile player to see his World Cup dream ended by injury, after suffering cracking his left shoulder whilst attempting ‘an acrobatic shot’ during a training match last week.
The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) issued the following statement to confirm the news;
“After tests we conclude [Nani] is unfit to participate in the World Cup. He picked up the injury in training on Friday in Lisbon before flying to South Africa.
Following the injury to the left clavicle suffered by Nani, a daily assessment of the damage and the completion of medical tests, we have concluded he is unable to be competitive. The medical file will now be presented to the medical department of Manchester United.”
The FPF have already called up a replacement for Nani in the shape of Benfica midfielder Ruben Amorim.
Nani? Acrobatic shot? I’m afraid I just can’t picture it…

That’s a huge bummer. I really think he was going to help his team a whole lot more than pony boy.
Well he’s an idiot. We knew it, the mancs knew it, now everybody knows it.I hope that this is the situation that flicks the “maturity” switch on inside of his brain. That said it’s a pity he doesn’t make it to S. Africa. And the replacement? A defensive minded douche, Queiroz at his very best (not).
