The Football Hard Man Index No.6: Trifon Ivanov, Aka The Bulgarian Wolfman
By Ollie Irish
ROUTINELY included on ‘Ugliest Footballers’ lists, Trifon ‘The Wolfman’ Ivanov also played ugly. If Trifon didn’t intimidate opponents with his wild looks and intense stare, he would simply hack them down.
It would be harsh on Ivanov to remember him only as a hatchet man – he possessed a fine pair of shooting boots too, and could play a bit, as 77 caps for Bulgaria attest, not to mention this fine strike against Wales:
So, foot like a traction engine and, er, a face like a traction engine too. Trifon, we salute you and welcome you to the Hardman Hall of Fame.

With Letchkov, Balakov, Ivanov, Kostadinov and of course Hristo Stoichkov, that early/mid 90′s Bulgaria side was pretty damn tasty – though sadly not in the ‘looks’ department.

Some people don’t make a difference between “Ugly ” and “Sexy ” . Explain me which feature exactly is ugly – his mouth , his perfect straight nose or his chin ? Something is worrying you about the eyes and the beard , but you cant expect from a man to look like a woman .
Trifon is an absolute legend.
Before his debut for Rapid Vienna, Ivanov could be seen on the touchline, smoking a Davidoff cigar?
Uncertain :: There is no proof for this claim but it may as well be true.
