With England U21s needing a three-point haul from their final group game, it looked for all of 14 minutes like Danny Welbeck’s header was going to be enough to see Psycho’s youngsters through to the knock-out rounds of the U21 European Championships – that was until the Czech Republic pulled their fingers out, scored in the 89th minute and again with the final kick of the game (Jan Chramosta and Tomas Pekhart, both substitutes) thus hoisting themselves back above England in the table and through to meet Switzerland in the semis on Wednesday.

Man, that’s got to sting a little.

Looks like we had a lot of chances.

Czech 2nd goal looks far too easy.

  2. Rich says:

@nickooo we had a lot of the ball but no real chances as England only really had control of the ball when we weren’t in threatening positions, not helped by the fact henderson played defensive mid an sturridge played attacking mid so they weren’t as effective as they could’ve been, also the second goal was because england were going for the win

1-0 up with 2 mins to play, we really should have seen that game out! Very disappointing! The Czech’s parked a bus for 75mins and when we scored we only needed to do the same for 15mins. the Czech 1st goal was very scrappy but there 2nd was when we got caught trying to score a 2nd ourselves. We had to go for it as a draw wasnt good enough.
All in all, we just didnt have that bit of quality in the final 3rd…….a little like our senior squad (doh!!)

Stuart Pearce was a good player. He is not a good manager though.

  5. Chris says:

How Stuart Pearce has gotten a two year extension is beyond me. He managed to make a good group of players who do well with their respective clubs into a hash of timid twats who couldn’t at all function as an actual team. His “tactics” and his team choices were beyond rubbish. Next two years – regardless of Wilshere and Carroll – will just be more of the same.
