What you see before you are the brand spanking new Nike Mercurial Vapor IX boots. Other than being made from cyborg gecko skin and the new Mercurials are interesting for another reason: when it comes to the pros, the ‘sunset’ colourway will be doled out to the up-and-comers like Neymar, Eden Hazard and Stephan El Shaarawy while the ‘fireberry’ boots will be sent to ‘established’ stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan.
You gots ta earn ya purple plastic slippers these days!

For what it’s worth, we kinda like them – though it seems we’re getting new boot colourways every few weeks these days so it’s hard to get attached.
