Shit Football Kits: Jaguares Outrageous ‘Jaguar Print’ Retina Destroyer, 2001-ish?
By Chris Wright
Here’s a blooter of a shit kit we stumbled across while putting together our “Favourite Sudamericano Football Badges” piece earlier in the week, which belongs – or belonged – to Mexican side Jaguares de Chiapas.
What you see here isn’t the the first or last Jaguares shirt to feature a jaguar print motif, but it’s definitely the worst…

“Busy”. Yep, “busy” is definitely the word.
As far as we can tell, it was only worn during pre-season for one season only – for obvious reasons! Unfortunately, we can’t give you any more information than that as the details appear to be rarer than chicken’s teeth.
Judging from the fellow’s footwear, we’re guessing it dates from around 2001-ish, though if anyone has any further knowledge about this truly dreadful kit, please feel free to bestow uponst us…

Horrific kit! I don’t think it beats Jorge Campos’ Mexico goalkeeper kit from the 94 World Cup though
Horrific kit! Not as bad as Jorge Campos’ Mexico goalkeeper kit in the 94 World Cup though

Sorry Hugh, didn’t catch that, what did you say?
Haha, didn’t mean to do that and then couldn’t delete the last two comments
The fellow is Julio Cesar Yegros, member of the 1998 world cup Paraguayan squad…
@RULAS: Thanks amigo!
The (online translation of) the website seems to say that the club was founded on 27 June 2002, played its first match on 17 August that year (though Wikipedia says 3 August), and adopted a new logo in August 2010. So the kit must presumably have been from some time between August ’02 and August ’00.
* sorry, I meant between August ’02 and August ’10.

Wikipedia also says Soriana was a sponsor and Garcis the kit manufacturer in 2002-03. Clearly says Soriana on the front here, and maker’s logo (though hard to make out)looks like it says Garcis. Which would seem to put this kit in 2002-03.
