What you see Luis Suarez pawing at up above is Adidas’ brand new boot model, the Samba Primeknit, which just so happens the world’s first ever knitted football boot.
Yep. Knitted.
Inspired by the success of the similarly woollen Primeknit running trainer, Adidas have used the same process to create a limited edition boot – the first ever to be knitted from heel to toe.
The Primeknit’s upper is also constructed from a single piece of fabric, therefore cutting down on wastage and making it, as Adidas themselves claim, the “most sustainable” football boot they’ve ever produced.
The Primeknit boots are pencilled in to go on sale to the public on March 17th and will retail at around the £250 mark, though what price can you put on “combining the comfort and responsiveness of playing barefoot with the protection of a traditional design,” we ask you?
Here’s Luis mucking around with his new woolly boots…
