An ode to park football matches of yore, when you’d number up, pick which player you were going to be (Gabriel Batistuta, naturally) and proceed to play until the sun went down and you couldn’t see the ball any more – here’s Nike’s brilliant advert for their new “Risk Everything” campaign, which stars all of their big guns…

Say what you like, but no-one does football ads quite as well as Nike.

Bloody brilliant. I can embarrassingly profess to shouting out big star names when playing in the park, nearly all the time, lol, so a great concept. Love Nike ads before WCs. The zany parts in this was seeing Pirlo chatting to Kobe in the crowd (would’ve been nice to hear Kobe speak Italian as he grew up there I believe) but loved the Chuck Norris status highlighted in that hit to the face…..and the UFC fighters with the builders in the hi-visibility jackets in the crowd….Understandable to see the Spanish players in their Barca kits, due to their Adidas ties. This was great nonetheless, with some great tekkers, even if a tad computer generated. Hoping for for a few more great footy ads in the lead up to the WC, in the Brazil At the Airport mould. Can’t wait. Thanks for the heads up Pies!

Ps-Belgium’s kit supplier Burrda are missing a trick not to have a WC ad with the gems in their team no? Maybe a Belgium Team Tekkers ad at the Airport to Brazil (if the Nike Corporate team would allow for footy fans around the world). Needs to be done Burrda!

Uhh… have you seen the JOSE +10 commercial from adidas in 2006? Great originality nike…
    Boring stuff.

    two words: 2006, adidas

  5. Joe says:

IN the 2006 Adidas ads the players were imaginary, in this ad it’s more like role playing. Similar yes, but different.
