Newcastle and Puma have revealed their new away kit for next season, inspired by sickly sausage rolls, dirty old snack bars, the fog on the Tyne and the silvery/grey kits worn by the likes of Toon legends Peter Beardsley, Chris Waddle and Paul Gascoigne back in the mid-1980s.
A nice little detail that caught Pies’ eye is visible in the photo above, with the words “Newcastle United Football Club 1892” featured in the subtle pin-striping on the shirt, which will be worn for the first time on May 11th for the Toon’s last game of the season, away against title-chasing Liverpool.
Pies’ verdict: Bit on the bland side, hardly memorable, but a smart enough kit all the same.
