In what may turn out to be his final game for the club, AIK midfielder Celso Borges was forced to borrow a shirt from a fan in the crowd to appear against IFK Gothenburg in the Swedish league last night.
Borges was originally left out of the matchday squad after AIK received a bid for the Costa Rican international from French club Evian.
However, the AIK coach then U-turned in his selection after the team had already travelled to Gothenburg, with Borges sourcing himself a shirt to wear after perusing the away fans for a supporter roughly his size.
A jersey with “Borges No.10” already printed on the back was duly commandeered from a fan known only as ‘Luis’, with AIK’s kit man hastily sewing sponsor’s logos before handing it to Borges to wear.
“I’m proud to have helped the team I love,” said Luis after AIK’s 2-0 win, which lifted them up to second in the Allsvenskan.
